Los altos maintains a list of 120 historic significance for the community. Plans to renovate and restore the 1906 house paul shoup built on university Avenue, located on west Edith Avenue. The council voted 3-2 last month to require property owners to notify their neighbors and the public about changes to historical homes. The city originally rejected current owners Patricia and William Jennings plans to renovate the house and restore its original features. In final approval, the house plans must specify a reduction in the size of a proposed side-porch entrance and finishing touches such as front-yard landscaping and exterior details. Tasks include differentiating between old and new aspects of the historical house and selecting paint color, trim and fencing.
