UK housing poise at 30 year low

UK surveyors recently reported the most extensive fall in house prices previous month in the 30-year history of their RICS market study, signifying the property slump is collecting pace. Sterling cut down to a fresh record low against the euro after the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors study as investors worried the weak housing market would take its tax on the broader economy.

The net balance of surveyor’s coverage falling, other than rising, house prices worsening to -78.5 in the three months to March from -65.7 in February the lowest since the study started in January 1978 and well below forecasts for a interpretation of -67.5. "The risks of a serious housing led slowdown in the UK are rising by the day," said George Buckley, chief UK economist at Deutsche Bank

This is a good time to buy a new house

There is no better time to buy a new house than right now. Now, the market has come full circle and the buyer has the negotiating advantage - that is, if he or she can logically sort through the mortgage options. The buyer must distinguish the good values from the bad and determine if a deal really is as good as it appears. That's where a good Realtor, acting as a great consultant, certainly pays off. You buy up because the higher-priced home in the same market falls by a larger percentage in dollars than the lesser-priced home you want to sell. Ralph Rapson Design house, 93; modernist architect

Ralph Rapson, a modernist architect who designed the Greenbelt House for the 1940s Case Study House program in Los Angeles.Ralph's passing represents the end of an era, not just for Minnesota's design community, but also for American architecture.Many of the houses became architectural icons in Los Angeles, immortalized by photographer Julius Shulman.His final plan featured layers of glass panels and wood forming a screen between the lobby inside and the outside elements. But the wood construction didn't survive the test of the harsh Minnesota winters and was eventually removed. And although the entire structure was torn down a few years ago, the interior design of the theater was re-created in the new building.
