How is traditional building made?

Changed all interior lights to low energy lamps. Had the security light changed to a glow with dawn to dusk sensor and a low energy lamp.

- 270mm loft insulation between joists and over joists.

- cylinder previously insulated. Insulated hot water pipes.

- gaps round windows and front door. Already have double glazing, hung heavy, lined curtains. Fixed rubber draught excluders on the front door.

- the space thermostat for 18°C.

- have slim line low-flush toilet cistern. Fixed spray insert in kitchen tap and two water butts.

Whole house ventilation system

- ventilation with heat recovery to prevent condensation in the timbers once the roof is well insulated and reduce the energy required to heat rooms.

Relocating traditional houses

A plan to relocate an traditional wooden house from Japan to Taiwan is evolving into a platform for sharing the experience of volunteering, as well as promoting a transnational community-to-community exchange on efficient earthquake reconstruction.

On July 21, representatives of the Mikura community in KobeJapan signed an agreement in Taipei with their Taiwanese counterparts to permit the relocation and rebuilding of a traditional Japanese-style house to DanshuiTownship Taipei County in the northern part of Taiwan.

The historic building--which has no nails, but uses mortise and tenon joints--was constructed in Fukui Prefecture approximately 1915 by the father of renowned Japanese author Minakami Tsutomu (1919-2004). The work of rebuilding the house in Taiwan will likely begin in November according to Chiu Ming-min, a community development expert and the project's Taiwanese manager.

Designing of Beach houses in australia

Architects in Australia have created some of the most unusual and great buildings in the world. Internationally recognised Australian icons contain buildings like the Sydney Opera House and the new Parliament House in Canberra . Distinctive Australian architecture is also recognisable in the rural icons of the Queenslander, the 'wool shed' and the 'beach house' which have developed in response to climate, history, place and uniqueness. Characteristically, these designs used local equipment as well as corrugated iron and emphasised space and light as well as a connection to the landscape.

These classic qualities were frequently sacrificed in the development of the Australian suburbs where 85 per cent of Australians have lived since 1900. Australian architect and critic Robin Boyd once described the Australian suburbs as most awful failing. Australian architects like Boyd and Roy Grounds have argued for the value of modern Australian architecture as an expression of a local identity which balanced the ideals of art and architecture against local climate and social realities.
